What is Waqf?

Waqf is an ongoing charity by which wealth passes out of its owner's possession into God's; it is not sold, gifted or inherited. The asset remains preserved so its yield can be spent continuously on the field dedicated to it. Your endowment in the square-metre or share project keeps its effect for as long as the projects of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa endure, God willing.

Learn More About Waqf

A Perpetual Ongoing Charity

Its reward continues for the giver as long as the asset stands and its yield flows, even after death.

Yield Dedicated to Serving Al-Aqsa

The Waqf's yield is spent solely on the approved areas serving Al-Quds, Al-Aqsa and its people.

An Official Documented Certificate

Minber issues every donor an official certificate bearing their name, its number, and the size of their endowment.

About the Waqf Square-metre Project

The Idea

The Waqf square metre is symbolic in name yet weighty in effect: it seeks to establish sustainable endowments that generate sufficient funds and suitable yield to serve Al-Aqsa Mosque, protect it, affirm its Islamic character and keep steadfast the people who stand guard there those who act on behalf of the ummah through their defence, patience and resolve, giving what is dearest to preserve the dignity of all Muslims and safeguard their sanctuaries. This is done by dividing the area of Al-Aqsa symbolically and figuratively into square metres, then apportioning the material cost each square metre requires to remain Islamic, alive and steadfast through many projects: memorisation circles, study benches, iftar tables, lessons of knowledge, drinking-water provision, and student and community activities, among others.

Cost and Achievements

After careful study and extensive data-gathering on the holy city and its Al-Aqsa Mosque, the financial cost of each square metre was assessed at about $1,500, invested in a sustainable Waqf project whose yield goes to guarding Al-Aqsa. By God's grace the square-metre project has begun to bear fruit: the Rightly-Guided Caliphs Waqf Complex in Sur Baher, Al-Quds the city's largest Islamic complex after Al-Aqsa itself opened in March 2022; and a set of licensed, legally established investment projects in Istanbul now returns its yield to serving Al-Aqsa.

Waqf Share

To make giving easier and widen the door of reward for all, we divided the square-metre project so a donor may split a metre into fifteen parts and give what they can this became the Waqf share. A share costs $100 and is spent on the same Waqf projects by the same mechanism as the square metre, and Minber issues the donor an official, attested certificate.

What kind of support does this Waqf provide?

The yield of the square-metre and share project is spent on approved areas that directly serve Al-Aqsa and the people of Al-Quds, chief among them:

Financial Support for Al-Quds Families
Support for indebted residents of Al-Quds
Providing Water at Al-Aqsa Mosque
Support for those in retreat at Al-Aqsa mosque
Iftar Tables
Repairing Al-Quds Homes
Emergency Relief in Al-Quds
The Al-Aqsa Oil Project

Project Aims

1

To sustain support and funding for projects inside Al-Aqsa Mosque study circles, memorisation and recitation classes, scholars' chairs, iftars and youth activities and for restoration and building work across Al-Quds, especially the Old City, strengthening the resilience of its people, the first shield protecting Al-Aqsa against the harshest living conditions the occupation imposes to empty the city of its residents.

2

To safeguard the Islamic identity of the holy city and Al-Aqsa Mosque against waves of Judaisation, campaigns distorting its identity, altering its geography and erasing its history through projects that strengthen Islamic culture and the sense of belonging to the Muslim body, which directly forms a line of defence for Al-Aqsa.

3

To open the door of contributing to the ribat and the protection of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa to Muslims everywhere; for whoever works to keep the steadfast in place has a reward like theirs, diminishing nothing of it.

4

To revive the sunnah of endowment among Muslims, whether for themselves or for the souls of loved ones who have passed on. [RELIGIOUS-REVIEW: the hadith text is to be taken from an approved translation]

5

To strengthen the sense of Islamic brotherhood across the ummah and affirm that the community of Muhammad is one body however geography or language divides us, Islam unites us, Al-Quds brings us together, and Al-Aqsa joins our hearts.

6

To steady the hearts of our brothers and sisters in Al-Quds and strengthen their resolve, so they know the whole ummah stands behind them caring for them, striving for them, feeling their hardship and standing with them in their ribat.
